Jessica Pinfold Specialist Nurse Practitioner NMC qualified

MSc, BSc (Hons), BA (Hons)

My name is Jess and I have been a qualified nurse for nine years. I spent my first three years of my career working on a Cardiology ward in Oxford. I spent the following 6 years working in the community as a district and practice nurse.

I completed the Specialist Practitioner Qualification in community nursing in 2020 and completed a dissertation module in 2021 to achieve a full MSc in Health Studies. This has provided me with expert knowledge and experience into chronic health conditions.

Services

Traditionally, ear wax removal was offered by the district nursing and practice nurse service, however this is no longer the case. Since we stopped offering ear wax removal in nursing, I have become aware of many of my patients who are complaining of hearing loss, painful ears, ear infections, vertigo, loss of balance and increase falls. A build-up of ear wax can contribute to these symptoms.

This triggered an interest in ear wax removal for me. I wanted to provide a service in particular to house bound people who are struggling with a build-up of ear wax. I aim to improve quality of life and ultimately improve client safety. Subsequently, I completed a micro suctioning and irrigation course, which are forms of ear wax removal. I offer a friendly, professional and safe ear wax removal service in and around Cardiff.
